1. What is boAt Crest AI?
Crest AI is boAt's AI platform for our next generation of smart audio devices. We have built it with Google Cloud, running on Gemini Live. The short way to put it is this: instead of learning a set of commands and hoping the device recognises them, you just talk. And it has been built for how people here actually speak, across Indian languages and regional dialects, not only clean textbook English.
2. Is Crest AI made by boAt or by Google?
Both, and here is exactly how. Crest AI is our platform. The intelligence inside it is Google's Gemini, running on Google Cloud. We announced the partnership together with Google. So what you experience is boAt's, and the model doing the thinking is Google's. We would rather spell that out than leave anybody guessing.
3. Which boAt products come with Crest AI?
Crest AI is already supported on select boAt products, including:
-
boAt Airdopes Prime 800D (TWS Earbuds)
-
boAt Airdopes Prime 701 ANC (TWS Earbuds)
If you come across any listing claiming to sell a separate or unofficial "Crest AI device", please be careful. Buy only from boat-lifestyle.com or our authorised sellers.
4. What is Crest Ask?
Crest Ask is the part you actually talk to. Ask something, get an answer, then ask a follow-up, and it stays with the conversation rather than starting over every time you open your mouth.
Think of the moments when a question pops into your head while you are walking somewhere, or cooking, or stuck in traffic. Normally the thought either dies or costs you two minutes and your phone. That is the gap Crest Ask is built for. Questions, learning about something, working an idea out loud.
5. What is Crest Translate?
Real-time translation, working in both directions, including during a call.
Both directions are the important bit. Not you speaking into a phone, waiting, then turning the screen around for the other person to read. Both sides of the conversation, as it happens. If your work or your travel regularly puts you in a room where nobody shares a language, this is probably the feature you will use most.
6. Will Crest AI understand me if I speak in my own language?
That is a large part of why we built it.
Voice assistants have always been designed around one clean language at a time, which is simply not how most of us talk. A normal sentence here carries two languages, sometimes three, with the English word for anything technical. Crest AI is built to handle India's languages and regional dialects, and to follow what you mean rather than only matching words. Specific language support will be confirmed along with the devices.
7. Can Crest AI handle my email and calendar?
Yes. Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Tasks all work by voice through Google Workspace. Ask it to help you reply to an email, or to put a meeting in your calendar, and it does that without you touching a screen.
This is aimed at the small stuff. The twenty times a day you pull out your phone for something that takes four seconds. One thing to note: these features need a Google account.
8. Does Crest AI work without an internet connection?
The conversation and translation features run on the cloud, so they need a connection. Your music does not. Audio playback carries on as usual.
Practically speaking, on a patchy stretch you will find the smart features drop out while the song keeps playing.
9. How is this different from the voice assistant already on my phone?
Two things.
Earlier, your earbuds were just a microphone and a speaker. They carried your voice to the phone, brought the answer back, and understood nothing themselves. With Crest AI the intelligence sits in the audio platform.
The second difference is the one you will notice. The conversation holds. Ask a follow-up and it remembers what you were talking about. Most assistants lose the thread by your second sentence.
10. Will Crest AI improve sound quality?
No. We would rather tell you straight.
Sound comes from drivers, tuning, fit and how well the earbud seals in your ear. AI changes how you use the device, not how it sounds. If you are buying purely for music, judge it on the audio specifications exactly as you always have.
